"Tumble outta bed
And stumble to the kitchen
Pour myself a cup of ambition
Yawnin, stretchin, try to come to life
Jump in the shower
And the blood starts pumpin
Out on the streets
The traffic starts jumpin
And folks like me on the job from 9 to 5
Workin 9 to 5
What a way to make a livin
Barely gettin by
Its all takin
And no givin
They just use your mind
And they never give you credit
Its enough to drive you
Crazy if you let it"
God, I love that song... ;)
Okay, let me start at the beginning...
I've been on maternity leave for a year, and my last EI cheque came in last Tuesday... the pressure was on. We were going to be down to one salary if I didn't find a job fast. Lucky for me it's a small town and word travels fast. My sister's fiancé's mother was speaking to my mother and happened to mention that a local insurance company may be in need of a secretary. My mother called me right away and I brought in a c.v. the next morning. An hour or two after dropping off my resume I got a call to come in for an interview. I went that afternoon and was offered the position on the spot. Unfortunately, I have been hired as a temporary contract until November... it's a long story, but there is a great chance that I could be hired on permanently.
It's not a glamourous job, it doesn't pay extremely well, but it's a 1-minute drive from home and just a few minutes from the daycare... no travel expenses and I'll be nearby in case of emergency. I couldn't ask for a better opportunity, and I am sooooooo happy!
As an added bonus the office is great and the people are really friendly.
Keep your fingers crossed for me... I'll let you know if (or when) I get on for good!

Hi Lena,
I just noticed that you left a comment on one of my blog posts. (I am new to this whole blogging thing.) Thanks for the support.
Congratulations on finding a job. That's great. It must have been difficult to leave the baby at daycare. I'm not going back to work until next summer, but I am already dreading leaving Bianca at daycare. :(
Best of luck with the new job.
